Can you recommend some good sounding amplifiers for pedal steel guitar? Since I am new to PSG, I am looking for the more economical models.

I have a Fender Champion 100 for a practice/ backup amp,and have played several shows with it.
Not sure what you call economical, but I paid $369 new a couple years ago.

Add the Peavey Nashville 112 to the list. The 112 is what I'm using right now in a band.

I'm opposite you on the Florida west coast.

Depending how far you are from Lake Panasoffkee (Sumter Co), our monthly steel guitar jams start Wednesday (Nov 13) at 5PM at Catfish Johnny's Restaurant in Lake Panasoffkee.

Some threads about Boss Katanas, but before you buy the current generation, there's a new Katana 2 series being stocked up now, so the older gen should see clearanace pricing soon. I got a 50 watter for under $200 used but I should've gotten the 100 since their GA-FC Foot Controller doesn't work with the 50. Also all amp models besides Clean and Acoustic are pretty noisy (their excuse being the originals they are copying were noisy)

Have you looked at the used amps on your local Craigslist?
The Peavey Bandit 65 is usually under $100 and is a great first amp.

The amp is the end of the pipeline for all your hard work, frustration and dedication to your craft. Let the world and yourself hear your story. Lots of good information here. Find a good one that works for you. Very Happy

Seem’s like if a pro player had too he could do any gig or show with a Nashville one 12 an the audience would not know the difference in a one 12 or the latest greatest tube amp. The best sound in my memory was the St Louis steel guitar convention an those Peavy Amps were king there.

Pete's Bandit suggestion is a good one. Craig's List, or Guitar Center. And Peavey made millions of 'em.

Also consider a Roland Cube 80 with 1x12" speaker or Cube 60 with 10". Used from GC.

On occasion you can find a great polytone brute with a 15” speaker for cheap. Found one in a pawn shop not too long ago for like $150. I think it was a mini brute ?? I used one brute 3 for a few months and really liked it. Compact clean powerhouse.

I ran my D-10 push/pull through a Polytone Mini-Brute II for years throughout the '70s, '80s, and '90s playing clubs, weddings, private parties, etc. For huge rooms and outdoor gigs I pulled out the LTD 400. Even with only a 12" speaker, the Mini-Brute II makes an excellent pedal steel amp, in my opinion.

Another shout-out for the Roland 80XL. The only amps I now have in my armoury are three of these ultra-reliable and eminently-portable little workhorses. The on-board effects are a boon, too.

Roland 80XL.. Cheap, reliable, really good clean effects, very loud and powerful for the size, and small and lightweight.. Very good sound for pedal steel as well.. An old Peavey bandit is a good call as well, loud as hell, reliable, and really cheap, it will last forever. It just won't do all the things the Roland will do, the effects are varied, easily controllable, are actually quite good, and even includes a built in tuner... bob
