Topic: Show Pro - which thread/diameter for new rods? |

I'm about to order some new pull rods from psgparts for my Show Pro to add a couple changes. Anyone know if the ones on there would be 0.109" or 0.125", and thread #4-40 or #5-40?

I am not sure which size pull rod, Sho Pro uses on their guitars.
Some guitars like GFI and others uses 3/32" (.0937) Dia. rods 4-40 thread.
Emmons and others used 7/64" .109 (.10937) Dia. rods 5/40 thread.
MSA and others used 1/8" (.125) diameter. 6-32 thread is the most common thread size. But I prefer 6/40 thread, You can buy 6-40 taps and dies for threading. This will give more precise adjustment tuning than 6-32 thread on the rod.
I would suggest you measure the guitars rods and use the same size rod and thread size for making additional rods. This will allow you to use rods any place in the guitar without having to drill out holes larger in connectors. Or make odd connectors for a different size rod. Also allows for purchase of one size nylon/plastic tuning nuts, that will work on any rod. Don't make the guitar a Frankinstien to work on.
If your guitar uses 3/32" or 1/8". Check with your local welding shops. Some shops stock 36" Stainless steel rods in 1 or 5 pound plastic sleeves, They thread easy and make great replacement rods.

Got any drill bits? Compare those to your pull rods. I don't know what they use but later sho buds are 7/64 (.109) and Michael rolls threads on the ones he makes so they use a #5 thread if I recall. Cut threads would be #4.
