Great job. Love the headstock. Reminiscent of the old ZB's. Any info/pics of the undercarriage?

Nice looking guitar Jimmy. The headstock must surely be from a cliff white steel .Those pedals ,changer assembly and pickup look Cliff White too as is the wide string spacing
I had 2 of his guitars in the late 70s early 80 s.Cliff was based in Driffield North Yorkshire. He was a great guy and have very fond memories of going to Cliffs .He mainly played C6 and played this tuning really well. His last guitar I believe was a Universal he made for himself.Regards Dave

Yes Dave, the changer pedals and headstock are from one of Cliffs steels, the undercarriage has a more modern system, bellcranks are quick release Emmons Type, and it plays very well and sounds absolutely great. Also to add I used to own the personal Universal steel Cliff made for himself,it had two pickups,I wish I still had it,

Just to add the body is made from hardwood dieboard, the steel now I know plays and sounds good is going to be taken apart and will then be finished with a beeswax rubbing in compound, then clear lacquer ,should look awesome.

Fine looking guitar.
Don't want to rain on your parade, But check your finish on a piece of scrap wood first. I tried to put lacquer over a gun stock finish, (Turpentine/ Linseed oil/ Bees Wax), The lacquer would not bond, It just wanted to peal off when rubbed.
Good Luck and Happy Steelin.
