I just bought a Emmons LL2 that has these pickups in lieu of the original emmons single coils. Id like folks opinions on this and what i might expect when the guitar gets here. Thanks

I really can't tell any difference between the Emmons pickup and Jerry's pickup, both great! Very Happy

Whatever they have when I acquire them, all of my steels have ended up with Wallace TTs. Just put them on my early Fessy D-10 and it was the final touch to make it sound fantastic.

All my pedal steels have Wallace TruTones in them except for the Emmons since they sound the same. Very Happy

I have one of his first ones in my Excel 12 string. I'll probably never need another pickup. It's got that 'thing' everyone talks about. I can't get anywhere close with any humbucker except my vintage Dan shields Craptrap. It's the best of its type but still.....

Hey Brad! Just an alternate opinion. My first Williams had a TrueTone in it, which is a single-coil, non-humbucking pick-up. Every time my guitar got close to my Fender Twin I'd get a lot of transformer noise. When I used to be on the road a lot I would play in many places with electrical issues(lights, phase issues, etc.). Had to have a humbucker, which turned out to be a Lawrence 710(or a 705. If your guitar is not going to "travel" a lot then the TrueTone will be a good choice for a desired single-coil preference. Food for thought!Enjoy the new guitar, either way. Respectfully submitted, RK

I also had a TrueTone installed in my Carter and liked the sound, but ended up going back to the original XR-16 Humbucker due to the humming noise from the TrueTone. I installed a tone knob on my steel because it reduces and even eliminates the hum as you roll the tone knob down. Unfortunately, you also lose some of the nice high ends this way so it is a compromise.

I found the hum more annoying than the improvement in tone.

We operate at 240V here in Australia, and our grounding regulations are super strict

Don't need humbuckers

Single coils are the go over here - and the Wallace TT is my preferred unit. I have one in my Williams 12 and another in a box ready to go into my old 70's Anapeg (has a George Ls Humbucker in there at the moment that I don't care for)
