M1 XL question

Post by Dave Meis »

When I first got it, it would start up at the last preset I had used. I 'cleared the kernel' to solve another issue, and now every time I turn it on, it clears the kernel and starts at preset 1. TC Electronics has been no help at all (send it to us).
Any idea how I can stop it from clearing the kernel at every start up or does anyone know of a way to have it boot to the last preset when I turn it on? Getting tired of turning the knob.. because I usually forget and then wonder why it sounds weird! 😃
TIA, dave

I had a problem similar to that with mine in a Stereo Steel amp. I somehow messed it up by goofing around with it. If you call or E-mail Gerry Wallace at Walker Stereo Steel he can talk you thru it. It was something very simple but I've forgotten what it was. Good luck, Ron

A follow up : G.D. Walker is not building Stereo Steel amps anymore and his website does not come up, but I have a phone number for him and he would be glad to help. The number is (619) 460-5008.

That did it! After clearing the kernel, I was turning off the amp.. turns out, you just turn off the M1 and leave the amp on, then turn the M1 back on and after that, I can use the main on the amp, and it works great!
Thanks to Ronald, and thanks to Gerry! Problem solved! 😃

Yup, that's what it was. I knew it was a sequence of turning things off then on but I forgot what it was. Glad I could help and glad you got it fixed. Ron
