Ok I used the topic title to get attention. Here’s my point. This Forum is loaded with knowledgeable people, experts in every field of steel guitar, and yes there’s some plain ole bull____. But when you ask for advise here please take the the time to let us know what finally fixed your problem. We can all learn even if none of the advice worked and you fixed it yourself.

That's a fine ideal, Danny, but we're living in an age where people don't respond to simple text messages without a self-interest in doing so. So the closure of any larger loops seems a bit fanciful. This forum is full of threads where someone has asked a question, got dozens of replies and apparently never come back. I try to be polite but I've given up trying to teach it.

Unfortunately, we might have to lower our expectations about how someone resolved a problem, or what did and didn’t work. I’d like to see more posts about results as well.

It does seem like a the right thing to do....

Totally agree with this post. It's helpful to get whatever works and resolve the issue. I read all the posts and replying answers in hopes of learning something useful.

Danny, I've found that many people don't take the time to respond to the posts that we make to try and help players in any way. Usually, those that do are the older players that came up through the ranks digging out things for themselves.

One couldn't just hop on the internet and google something or go to a user group for instant information like now.

I've been disappointed many times by member's lack of as much as a thank you for posting information on a topic. It seems as though some take it as though they are entitled to the information and that we are obligated to comply.

Still, that doesn't deter me from trying to help people when I can. That's the way my Mama and Daddy taught me.

That would be terrific but I fear that we're in an age where even 'phone messages are mostly ignored unless replying is to the advantage of the recipient.

I'm probably the most mechanically inept Forumite of all and I've lost count of the generous help I've received here. True, there is the occasional 'blowhard' but they're distinctly in the minority.

Perhaps Danny's excellent point will be absorbed by everyone who reads it and civility could eventually reign.
