Peavey LTD 400 Reverb Tank

Post by Forrest Herzog »

Hi everyone,

Had a previous post on my Peavey LTD 400 that I’m trying to get up and going. I was just gonna see if anyone knew what model reverb tank this amp would take? The old tank was removed before the amp was given to me (just used a reverb pedal) so I have nothing to go on as far as a model number is concerned. Thanks so much,

This just came up two weeks ago - https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=348363

The stock replacement is the medium-decay 4EB2C1B (2-spring) or 9EB2C1B (3-spring) tank. Some like the additional spaciousness of the long-decay versions 4EB3C1B (2-spring) or 9EB3C1B (3-spring). Any of these will work in the amp - they have the correct input/output impedance and mounting plane (horizontal, open-side down).

I have the 3 spring 9EB2C1B in my NV 400 with the chip mods and TT 15 speaker and it sounds incredible!

Most of the reviews I've read prefer the sound of the MOD 3-spring units.
