Hilton Power Supply?

Hey friends,

I seem to have lost the power cable to my Hilton volume pedal. It's one that I had converted from the wall wart mounted cable to one that's removable.

I am wondering what the power rating is I need? Anyone have a converted pedal you can share the power ratings with me?

Ian, that looks like a pretty substantial cable, unlike mine which is very - I worry about it's durability once I start playing out. Where do I find one like that? My pedal uses a 24 volt wall wart.

The one Ian shows is the old model power supply.

Newer ones use a different type.

I've had my newer type for at least 9 years and play out regularly and its still holding up.

The newer power supply's are great and unless they get smashed or tugged on a few too many times they last me quite a while (on average about two years with heavy use). Keith told me that the older heftier cables were prone to the same problems. Cables/wires running across a stage will always have a risk of getting damaged. I keep an extra brand new power supply with me at all times and if the older one goes bad on a gig I have a backup. When one goes bad I always order another right away. Sure beats replacing pots!

I did the same thing Leo, when I bought my Hilton. I have an extra tucked away to go into my gig case. I was never a big effect guy, mainly for the "more places for trouble in the signal path" factor. It seemed like whenever I would try one, something would go wrong with it and I spent more time fooling with it than playing - in a live situation, that is not good. So, maybe I'm just a little paranoid about it haha. Thanks for the insight.

I bought the used Hilton Standard Volume pedal that was provided with a power supply made by some other manufacturer. Probably it was fine, but the UK plug brought me to thoughts of searching other alternatives:
EHX 24V/100mA power supply made the sound metallic, robotic and compliteley unusable
Another 24DC/0.45A makes the signal louder and boost it a little bit.
Quite an interesting sound but I wonder what's the pedal builder's original idea was and because of what it is getting all the good recomendations.
Keith Hilton wrote on the forum "The pedal actually operates from less than 50 mili-amps". So why they shipped with 24VDC 830mA p/supplies?

For those of us who are electronically illiterate,and who cannot read the label, what are the properties of the Hilton Power supply? And are they proprietary? or are there other products with the same specifications? Just wondering, I have got two of them myself, I don't like running into emergencies, so I have at least two of everything, but I have always wondered what are the specs of the power supply and if they were 100% proprietary or not.
