Topic: Question on Factory Sierra CoPedent D10 |

Hey fellow steelers,
I'm currently looking at a Sierra D10 for sale online. The seller says it's a 1996 Sierra Session D10, and the front of the guitar reads SIERRA SESSION D10 on the front of the body as well as SIERRA on the pedal rack. I noticed it also has the "crown" logo at the 12th fret, with the number 25 in the center. Searching through some previous threads, it appears to be the D10 double model in the "25 inch crown" series. Now, what I'm wondering is if anyone could tell me what the stock copedent was for these guitars from the factory in the 90's?
The owner is not a steel guitarist, and I asked him to run through all of the pedal/lever changes on the E9 for me. There were a couple interesting results. He said the E's on the left leg only lower/raise on the 8 string, not the 5th. Also, there's only 4 knees, and he mentioned the RKL is lowering B's to Bb like a vertical on most 3x5 guitars. I attached a Copedent chart for people to take a look-- What's up with this guitar??

Hi Ian,
Thanks for the speedy reply! I noticed this is off the current Sierra website. Have they been using this setup on their guitars in the past decades, specifically the 90's model I'm referring to?

While that was the stock copedent, you could order whatever you wanted.
The Crown models had folding legs. The Session models did not - the legs detached. That's the most obvious difference. The Session models had a 25" scale, Crown was 24.5". I think that by 1996 the Crown models had been discontinued.

it's pretty easy to make changes on the Session guitars and Jim Palenscar has most of the parts you would need. you could likely add a vertical knee as well, change some things around. I owned 2 Sessions not too long ago, was quite happy with them

Thanks for the replies, gentleman. Looks like the owner was mispoken, and both octaves lower/raise for the E levers. He said the 1st string does not raise.
bOb, you're definitely right, and thanks for clarifying. Looks like it is in fact a session model. I see detached legs that are not folding in the pix. I think I'm going to go for it.. Although, I'm not sure if I'll keep the Bb lower on the RKL. I may end up buying a vertical lever and changing that. However, I've never changed anything related to the setup underneath a guitar, so I'm wondering how difficult that will be.. time to learn!
Scott, I just recently bought a pickup from Jim, and he's top class!!
