Dâ€™Andrea thumb picksâ€”fastâ€”less strain?

Thin, flexible, plastic Dâ€™Andrea thumb picks seem to reduce tendonitis pain slightlyâ€”maybe needing less muscle power when speed picking?

They sound good and, since theyâ€™re thin, they limit string attack, which helps smooth and blend the overall sound.

Other brands drive bluegrass instruments well, but, since weâ€™re electrified, itâ€™s possible we donâ€™t need that much punch.

Emmons and Chet Atkins both dabbled in Dâ€™Andrea from time to time: the picksâ€™ shapes are havenâ€™t changed, but the material might be different nowâ€”who knows?

What do you all think? . . . are nylon picks popular for the same reason? . . . are stiff thick plastic picks still the way to go?
