C6 TAB Lapsteel Moon River
Hi lapsteelers !
A new contribution for C6 players.
Another fine melody, this time written by Henry Mancini for the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's.
With a few nice chord changes, some slants and mostly 2 harmonic voices.
A good one to study on, I think, but not too difficult .
I did a clip here:
https://youtu.be/UvnmcLpFpQk
Below is the first part.
For a complete PDF of the tab plus the mp3 backing track, just mail me, and I'll send it to you !
Hope you like this one too, best regards,
Bert

Moon River
Hello Bert,
I could use a copy of this song too. Your performance on youtube was excellent!! I noticed you don't use finger picks. Any particular reason?
Also, I have a request. Do you have any tabs in C6th or B11 of church hymns? I would love to have some and would be willing to pay for them. Thanks!
Carol

Hi Carolyn, thanks and I'll send you a PDF plus mp3 backing.
I went from guitar fingerpicking into lapsteel. So I'm used to playing without picks; it has a nice expression and damping is easier. And for instance I like Mark Knopfler's way of playing. Often without plectrum on the electric guitar.
But . . . now and then I put them on (Propiks now, easier to make them fit), for I must learn to handle it.
I'm on the forum for three months now, and contributed 7 or 8 songs, and working on the next one now, and that's it.
No church tabs. There's people who are specialized in the Lord. I saw Erv Niehaus and probably others too.
Best regards, Bert

That is exactly how my journey went.Bert Farroach wrote:Hi Carolyn, thanks and I'll send you a PDF plus mp3 backing.

I was an acoustic fingerpicker for decades and then arthritis got in the way.
I picked up lap steel and not having fingerpicks is natural for me.
I also have nice long and strong fingernails on my picking hand.
The only concession I made was I am now using a thumbpick.
The angle of thumb on a lap steel is just not conducive to not using a pick. At least in my naive opinion
but I do see some very good players not using one and it sounds fine to me.
I hate the darn thing but it is beginning to work for me a bit better.
I am having trouble getting rid of that irritating pick noise on the strings, that short little zzzzt as you pick the string.
Drives me nuts. Or more nuts might be more accurate.
I have stuff.
I try to make music with it.
Sometimes it works.
Sometimes it doesn't.
But I keep on trying.

Wonderful
Hi Bert,
I just joined steel guitar forum after finding and watching your YouTube rendition of “Moon Rive†you play it wonderfully. Is it still available the tab sheet and mp3?
I’m a beginner and I’d love to be able to play this at some point.
Keep the YouTube videos going too
John
