Kevin, Sacto is home of the NoCal wing of the Western Swing Society. They have monthly dances with live bands, I suggest you found out when and where and attend, start to mingle and get to know those terrific folks and get some job leads. Ronnie Elkan is my pal on the board, great fiddler and wonderful guy. His wife Shelley is an awesome singer, they'd be able to introduce you around, feel free to mention my name. There's a very active country scene in Sacto and vicinity.

By the way, my sister lives a stone's throw from you in Loomis. My next trip to see family, we should at least phone chat!

I left California a few months ago. One of the (many) reasons I left was the lack of bands wanting a steel player. The bands that really wanted one, and could afford one, already had one. I moved here to Montana because I had a spot in a band here waiting for me.

I'm in Auburn and have been in the region for 30 years. Yes, it is slim here.
