I have an 8 string set up in E9 tuning as follows.
...........a.......b.......c
E
B.....+C#
G#.............+A
F#
E
D.....-C#
B................-A
E
I'm happy with the A & B pedals. There are no knee levers. What are some suggestions for how I would set up the C pedal on this tuning? I can accomodate as many changes as are necessary on the C pedal.

If it were me, I'd lower my E's a half tone, as that is my third most used change.
You could then play out of B6 mode, as well as do other nice things. Be better on a knee lever though..Jerry |

Ditch the low E, and restring it standard E9, minus the first two strings.
Keep the existing A + B pedal setup, as you've said that you are happy with them, with an additional rod on the B pedal to raise the first string G# up to A.
Lower the E's with the C pedal. |

Like Richard says, I would ditch the low E and go with the standard E9 tuning minus the first two strings. Not to throw a monkey wrench into the works, but for me, the decision about what to do with the third pedal would depend on what kind of music I was going to play.
If I wanted both Nashville-style country and swing/blues, I'd put the E-to-Eb change on pedal 3 as has been suggested. This opens up the B6 tuning and a useful minor/maj7 chord in E9 mode, with pedal 3 alone, and also gives the nice dom7 chord with pedals 2 and 3 together, in addition to the usual AB pedal changes.
But if I was going more for pure Nashville-style, I'd put A and B on pedals 2 and 3 respectively and put the E-to-F raise on pedal 1. This would be closer to Lloyd Green's setup - his copedent does not show the Eb change:

and gives the important A+F inversion with pedals 1 and 2 together, a dom7 with pedal 1 alone, and the usual AB changes.
Myself, I'd try to add a pedal and have both the F and Eb changes, on pedals 1 and 4 respectively, A and B on pedals 2 and 3 respectively. This assumes your changer can both raise and lower the E strings - something like a Maverick can't do that. |

Getting B6 by lowering E's is not necessary, you already have A6 with A & B pedals down. I also wouldn't ditch the low E-string, but that depends on what kind of style you play. This tuning is very close to the original Bud Isaacs E9. The C-pedal on my 8-string is like what Ralph Mooney had; raises the high E to F# only.
