Bob, you fixed my picture. Your a nice Guy! I always post them too big. I need to look and see how you did it.

P.S. could someone please fix the nose? It's also too big .

Boy do I wish I still had my first steel It was a blue Pro 1 ShoBud(1977 model). It was so pretty and it played real well and stayed in tune good. I got Visions of granduer and sold it for $400.00 dollars with pedal and bar. I dont know now who I sold it to but Ill bet doesnt have it now. I havent had a steel that I feel as comfortable as I did with the ShoBud.
Oh well you live and learn. Too late sometimes

Mine is a hand me down from my dad. It is an old D-10 Sho-Bud perm. I sold this guitar but was able to get it back. I'm glad I did. The guitar I wish I still had was my black MCI. That guitar was light and had great tone.

I took delivery in April, 1956, of my Four 8 string necks, six pedals, blond birdseye maple BIGSBY; custom made to my order. I initially started talking with Paul Bigsby about it in around 1950, after seeing Billy Robinson here in town with Red Foley and the Grand Ole Opry troup.
I couldn't sell it now if my life depended on it; it's family. It's more than paid for itself even when union scale was only $14.95 per night.

My first was a Miller. Had it for 2 days before the broken-nose guys burnt their bar down for the insurance. I completely rebuilt it and refinished it. The day I finished it, the repo guys came. Then I got a "Crossover". A couple weeks later, our practice space was broken into. I lost the Bud, a 58 Flying V, and a white Showman. This time I was insured, and I got a new barrel/basket Shobud. Many, many years later I sold it to Don Dixon when I got my Kline U-12. Don sold it. If I knew who had it, I'd stalk him!

My first guitar was a Fender 400, I traded it for a MSA S-10 that I still have today. It's my practise rig. BTW I still have the white Sierra Session that I purchased from you. Great guitar.

My Pro I went to Mark Amundson, a great sound tech, columnist for FOH magazine and friend of Keith Hilton. I know he's a member also, but haven't seen him post in ages. Hey Markie, are you out there? And how's that Hilton pedal doing? Does it need a new owner?

Started with an old MSA Sidekick. Old thing wouldn't stay in tune and made me give up on steel for 2 years before I tried again with a Sierra Artist(good guitar). Now I have my last guitar, a Rains!

well hard to say for mine. But I would be willing to bet it is still out there somewhere.
Early 70's Maverick, 3+1, Clear Maple body.

but..there is a distinguishing mark..
I added the knee lever..bought it from David Jackson at Sho-Bud.

When I installed it, I placed it to close to the body so I had to cut a nick out of the rear of the body so it could engage..

yeh I know, why didn't I just move it ?
Good question...didn't think of that at the time...

So if you have an original Maple body 3+1 Maverick and there is a sort of cut out in the rear apron right where the knee lever is, that could have been mine.

I did run across the Steel two or 3 times thru the late 70's but after that.. ..who knows.

I lived up in Ct. so maybe it's still up in that area, but with EBAY and all..geesh..it could be down in SC next door to Stephen Gambrell for all I know...[This message was edited by Tony Prior on 06 January 2006 at 01:48 AM.]

I don't know where my old Fender 1000 is. I sold it back in the early '70s. It's pretty easy to spot, though. It had 2 knee levers shaped like this...

My original pedal steel was a Fender 1000. It was stolen off the bandstand (along with a Standel amp), the night before New Years Eve in 1964.

I sure wish I knew who took it, because even as old as I am now, I would still like to "visit" with him about it!

I still have my 36 year old ZB Custom D10. Played New Years Eve last week and still going strong. Pedals push just as hard as they ever did. I thought by now it would be broken in.

My First axe was a P/P w/8+none. Bought from Scotty in 72. Traded it in fr a new early MSA Classic. Great machinery but Imissed the tone. Now..73 P/P 8+4 Sound sooooo good.
