Adjusting stops in relation to nylon nuts

For my own practice and education, I've just reset my 2001 GFI Ultra D10 (just rec'd last Friday) to pretty much factory rodding. I have to say I love the GFI bellcrank/rod design!

Trouble is, the pedal and lever stops (set to the previous setup) aren't optimal. Is there a rule of thumb when setting pedal and lever stops??...and is there a rule of thumb when it comes to adjusting stops in relation to the nylon tuning nuts at the endplate?

I am very much "in the ballpark", but there is some instability, especially on the whole-tone raises.

What are some general rules as far as adjusting stops and throw?

In general, adjust the stop so that the longest throw is possible. Then use the tuner to synchronize the changes.

I forgot to mention that you should start with no tension on the tuning nuts. If you miss this step, you may end up with a tuning nightmare.
