volume pedal

When putting new string on your volume pedal,do you wind it so it can go wide open,or so it will shut clear down.travel in the pot won,t allow both.

I like to be able to go down to zero volume.

I feel the same. When I say "off", I want nothing coming out! The slight bit of high volume you lose (maybe 10%?) will never be noticed. I've even seen steelers who never run their amp volume over 6 complain, and who try modding the pedal to get that last 10%.

Go figure. Image

I'm the opposite.
I never allow my pedal to shut off.

I like to have my pedal full on even though I have plenty of room left on my amp's volume .I feel the guitar sounds better when the pick up is turned right on .

I set my volume pedal to give my Guitar just a "little" volume in the "OFF" position.

If you play a lot at home in a quiet atmosphere, you may want the volume to turn completely OFF. If you play with a band, I think it is best that it gets maximum volume. If you have 2 volume pedals, set one for each condition if it makes you feel better.
I have always set my volume pedals to get maximum volume.
The Hilton pedal allows you to set the minimum and maximum levels to your taste.

This May be a Thing That Applies To Where You Are Playing, I Play Clubs Mostly And I Prefer To Barely Hear The Guitar With The Pedal In The Off Position,I Think It Would Be Whatever You Are Comfortable With.
