I'm really going to try to make the Freight and Salvage show in Berkeley if I can. I want to see the Drive By Truckers at the Last Day Saloon on Saturday night; I don't know if I can take two nights in a row any more!

Thanks for posting this! I was planning on going and had forgotten about it. I'll be at the Fairfax show. Saw him last year at Freight and Salvage - great show.

I'm not going to make the show. Image I'm going to bed early because I'm working overtime and fighting a cold. Gotta save myself for my gig in Willits this weekend.

So, how was the show? DZ

Dave,

Sorry you couldn't make it. The show was great! The audience included his older brother Patrick, his brother-in-law & sister-in-law and David Grisman.

The group is a kick-ass jazz group fronted by Rob on Dobro. The other musicians played drums, piano, bass, saxophone and basson. Rob's dobro tone works really well with saxophone and bassoon.

Every musician was great. Very tight. I saw the same group last year at Freight and Salvage. They were very good then but much tighter tonight.

Most of the songs they performed are on his new CD "What It Is" which is being released by Rounder on Feb. 5th or from his previous CD Slide City. Both highly recommended.

I felt very fortunate to hear such quality music in a small club for $8. I believe they are playing in Ben Lomand tomorrow night if anyone in the South Bay wants to see them.

Again, thanks for reminding me about the show!
