Last year, I started a pop/rock project with a friend; we call it Interrupter Jones. There was a bit of lap steel on our first album, but for the second I did most of the instrumental leads on steel to give the recordings a more distinctive sound. As a matter of course, I penned a short tribute to the godfather of rock lap steel: it's called simply "Mr. Dave". |

It was a '46 Gibson BR-3 into a phaser and a distortion pedal with a clean amp. |

Interesting about the Zevon comparison; I don't hear it. Maybe that's because I only have his first two albums, and I don't think Lindley is on either one. I had the Rayo-X albums in mind when I arranged the track. |

Hey, Noah - no question, you got a Lindley feel to your playing, both in what you played and your tone. I was thinking the song itself reminded me of early Warren Zevon. (In fact, Mr. Dave was on his first album, playing banjo, fiddle and guitar. He only played slide on Hasten Down the Wind)
Really nice job - love to hear more. _________________ Peter

The whole album is on Youtube: I made a playlist. It's also available for download through Amazon, Itunes and other sites, but I'm not sure if linking to them outside the classifieds is a problem. |
