I've seen stills but never footage from this show. There's no audio but without sound, you can really focus on the visual and examine Byrd's immaculate technique.

Pretty cool. I can image the sound! Jerry always exuded such confidence and total mastery when he played. I like how he looks at the camera several times as he's playing. He's good and he knows it! I like that.

You are right about this Andy and I would never have thought to look at a great players hands without the audio. I can almost hear the perfect intonation and phrasing. Its as if you can watch the technique without being distracted by the beautiful sound!

Yes. I notice there is no wasted movement. Jerry moved each digit just enough to accomplish the micro partialized task at hand (no pun intended).

He was at his peak here. Hi-Fi Guitars, with all those great Hawaiian albums to come--Byrd of Paradise, etc. And that is THE 7 string bakelite that made history.

And just seven years later, Rickenbacker was best known for the six and twelve string guitars the Beatles played....

And a few years after that they stopped making steel guitars. Sad So did Gibson, Valco, and eventually Fender. The world had changed.
