GIBSON 10 string lap steel

Post by Robert Bowling »

Very nice condition and electronics work as well. Did have new tuner buttons installed due to originals crumbling. Strung as a 8 string A6. 1000.00
prefer local to Louisville sale. Thanks

According to the Duchossoir book, Gibson shipped 90 Century 10-strings between 1948 and 1956.

You're welcome, Robert. Good luck with your sale. Most definitely an uncommon and a great-sounding instrument.

Additionally, it may be worth pointing out that with the Century-10, Gibson did not merely add more tuners, strings, and 10-string fittings to existing Century-6 bodies. A longer and wider body to accommodate the additional strings and tuners, a wider fretboard, a wider fingerrest (bridge & pickup cover), as well as the 10-pole pickup, and 10-slot nut and bridge, were unique to the Century-10.
