I have a friend who wants to know the year or close to it and approx value of his dads Fender lap steel . I looked at it today and feel that it is in real good shape .

It’s a Fender Champ, basically a student grade lap steel when it was made. The black tolex case means it’s 1963 or later. Blonde Champs were made until 1976, so this one was made between ‘63 and ‘76. The date codes on the pots might tell you when the pots were made. As others have said, check the prices on Reverb.com and eBay. Try to get the selling prices, not the asking prices.
