Topic: Chart management system/app for Android? |

| I've been thinking of going digital with my charts. The kids these days are not using pencil and paper. I've seen something called 1chart, but it's for Apple products. Haven't been able to find anything for Android. Any ideas? |

I use an app called Songbook, developed by LinkeSOFT, available on Google Play. I highly reccommend it. Here is the link to the website:

When I purchased it it was $6.99. I can't seem to see the price now, probably because it is installed already. It has worked flawlessly for me on my Samsung 10 inch tablet. It reads a variety of formats including chordpro, plain text and pdf. If you use sheet music or lead sheets, you can load and read pdf files without any problem. This app has auto scroll, metronome, transposition, and editing features built in. It allows you to save set lists, and categories, and comes setup to sync with dropbox. I can't speak to the many other apps that claim to do the same thing. When I read reviews SongBook had by far the best. The only app that I have seen that comes close to this is an ipad only app called Onsong. I know several musicians who use this, and they always seem to be having trouble with it. I would not recommend buying an apple device for your charts.

| Thanks for the reply Jim. After looking through the description on their website, I'm not sure if it would work for what I need. I use number charts, like Nashville Number System. I have stacks of handwritten charts for various bands I work with. If I scan the charts and save as pdf, looks like I could import to SongBook. Then I would need to be able to manage them. Like arrange the order, or even edit on the fly. In your opinion, would this app be able to do that? |

I have a couple pdf's on mine and put them in set lists. You can't edit or make changes to pdf's on the fly with SongBook. Adobe acrobat is available for android. That might be an alternative if you have everything in pdf format. There are several sheet music readers on Google Play. This one looks like it would meet your needs, including editing on the fly.

I use MobileSheets. Works great to organize and display already-made charts. Now I actually use 1Chart on an old iPad to create the charts, then import them into MobileSheets, which is what I use on the gig.

At present I make my charts as .png files and store them in the documents folder of my Samsung tablet. What Bryan describes might be slightly more manageable.
