fun little painting of steel player

Post by Russell Taylor »

I thought some folks here might like to see this...
A friend of mine from our church asked if I would do a little painting for a Christmas gift to his mom. He wanted a picture his dad,(deceased) who was a postman, playing his '50s Fender Stringmaster with his faithful black lab by his side. His dads brother by the way was 'the' Slim Whitman.
The painting is a 6x6 on canvas and not meant to be a realistic portrait but it has the key elements. I heard it was well received, so I thought I would offer the same service to any steelers here who might like something similar. I'll post details for that in the For Sale, etc section of the forum....

Great job! Very impressive. Do you paint in other styles as well?

Glad ya'll like it! To answer you Jim, I do paint other styles from serious realism (see website in profile) to lighthearted fun things like this. My wife and I recently opened an art gallery with our work and a dozen or so other good artists. If you'd like to see a sampling check out OutOfOurHandsGallery.com

Touching tribute and really well executed. I really like how you approached everything..the simplicity.
