GHS E9th Super Steels for Stage One

Post by b0b »

This new string set is designed for the popular Stage One pedal steel, but it also works well on other guitars that require a wound 6th string, including Carter Starter and Sho~Bud Maverick. These are the same "Super Steel" stainless GHS strings available elsewhere in forum catalog, but assembled in slightly different gauges for Stage One. Specifically, strings 1, 3, 6 and 10 are heavier than the the standard GHS Super Steel E9th set.

I only have a few sets available right now, but it will become a regularly stocked item in a week or two.

Good job b0b!

These are the original equipment strings on Stage One guitars. GHS Stainless are a good reliable string. Help support the Steel Guitar Forum by purchasing strings here.

To b0b and Doug,

Wow, talk about good timing, prepackaged sets in these gauges were few. I am a life-long underarm guitar guy, a one-year lap steeler and a short-time lurker on this excellent forum who is due to take delivery on my first PSG tomorrow - a new wood-grain Encore. I don't believe in coincidence. I think The Man Upstairs and you two guys conspired to align my planets and I appreciate it. Tells me this was meant to be. Thanks again for all y'all do and Merry Christmas.

Ordered Friday from the SGF Store with regular shipping-delivered Monday(Christmas Eve), cross-country faster and cheaper than some other vendors' priority 2-day shipping, you can't beat that! 8)

Suggestion from experience. When I started playing with the wound 6th back in the 80's, the .022W was too quiet in the chord. When I went to .024W, it balanced everything out, volume wise.

Might want to make that an option.

Thanks for carrying these, bOb!! I'll be buying soon.

Any chance of carrying a similar gauged set in nickel wound?

Not yet, but you can order those gauges in singles.
