Buddy Cage’s Dekley

Hi guys! What year did Buddy start using the Dekley with The New Riders?

Buddy played a Hilt which was a highly modified and upgraded Dekley built by Larry Hilt. While it was slightly similar to the H&S (Hilt & Smith) Custom Signature, Larry added a lot of his own design ideas to the Hilt.

I left the company in November, 1980 and from my recollection Larry finished the guitar and Buddy started it around the same time or slightly thereafter.

That guitar spent about 10 tears in limbo after it was stolen-turned up on ebay and was retrieved by the police. I have some pics somewhere of Buddy getting it returned to him.
