MSA Classic 55 D10 8 & 4 knees

Post by Jon Schimek »

Same as this one no?
https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtop ... hlight=msa

Not sure if this is out of line, but I think it's only fair to mention what the previous posting mentioned and elaborate on the front Apron being completely refinished with a badge that isn't correct to the guitar and home-made decals.

This is definitely one of the most beautiful Classic SS' I've seen and these are great guitars, but a potential buyer should be aware of this.

Not to be " picky", but MSA never built a guitar with that SN. :|

That serial isnt right. The mechanics look right to me.

Previous seller should have also mentioned that the top was probably also refinished. Fretboards on these were silkscreened not a sticker.

Sorry Ernest, I meant no offense, really. It's just that some people like to know exactly when a guitar was made, and that can't be determined without the correct SN. (The SN should be 2C, followed by 4 digits.). As for myself, I have no interest in "collectible" instruments, as I believe that overall condition is far more important than mojo or previous ownership. Your guitar looks to be in fine shape and has good value, regardless of any work that has been done to it. :)

Hey Ernest, there is a serial number of the guitar it is on the Endplate underneath between the two pedal changers, it is stamped there, can you give me that number? This is the correct number.

Ernest, MSA used metal fretboard with the chess pieces does this guitar have the tin metal fretboard or decal fret boards?

The msa classic ss guitars had fret markers silk screened over the wood. So the lines and chess pieces would be on top of the wood color. Its definitely not original to the guitar.

Still it’s one of the best looking msa guitars I’ve seen. I’ve had a refinished ss and loved it but it needs to be disclosed to a potential buyer.

Hello Jon, so this MSA has different fretboards? It still looks good, the undercarriage is all MSA.

I would say that the guitar being refinished and the original fret board markings being defaced is pretty important information to disclose.
That does not make it a bad guitar by any means, but that kind of detail is important.

The guitar being refinished on top and bottom does not damage the value, this guitar was done professionaly to bring it back to original condition, so this guitar is considered a good buy and a great guitar for a collector.
