I just stumbled on this product. Looks pretty neat! Has anyone tried one for steel?

A pretty good unit. I used one for about a year till it quit working. I contacted Presonus to get it repaired but the cost for repairing was $187. another $100 and I could have got a new one. Wasnt real impressed with their service department.
If your interested Ill sell mine for $50 and you can deal with presonus. I'm done with them.

I had one but recently sold it. It "collected dust" in my home studio. I tried it with condenser mic's and with pedal steel and couldn't find anything I liked. It may be a nice unit, but not for me.
Surprisingly, this was the only Presonus hardware device that was not either defective when I got it new or crapped out later.
Although I have Studio One DAW software I'll never buy another Presonus hardware device.

I dunno, i just bought a brand new Presonus from Sweetwater, and it's just incredible. I actually don't like their software. I bought a new Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2 USB, and a red case to put it in. This thing is amazing. I've owned various Presonus processors, PA speakers, preamps, and analog mixers through the years, never had a moments trouble.

With "white noise" it could just be the tube. I'm not sure how many tubes are in it but it is a tube preamp.
