I recently purchased a pair of Bose outdoor speakers and the sticker read 4ohms. I had to remove the drivers in order to fabricate a mounting bracket and noticed a large resistor inside so I measured the resistance at the terminals and it read 4 ohms but the driver by itself reads 2 ohms. Is it common practice to add a resistor in order to get the desired ohms? Just curious.
Thank you,
Marty

Speaker impedance
They do that in some cases where they use the same speaker in multiple devices to save manufacture cost. Most amps don't work well down to a 2ohm load .
