95 Carter D-10, 8 & 8, NICE

Post by Henry Matthews »

I have a 95 Carter really nice guitar for sale, it’s 8&8 and all parts look to be factory. It’s Day set up now. It has the Es on left leg and typical pulls on right knee. Guitar is a 9.5 out of 10. Comes with a nice Carter case in great shape too. $2500 plus shipping.

Looking good Henry, that's a lot of knee lever's. Best of luck on your sale, J.R.

Thinking about replacing my backup steel with a guitar with more knee levers, since my main steel is 9x9.
I don’t know how much difference Carter’s BCT made in tone, or what years didn’t have that. Does this ‘95 have the body contact technology? Did BCT affect the tone much?
Also, did Carter make the teardrop knee levers that I see in the picture for the back neck?

Jack, I wish I could answer your questions but I can’t. I don’t think this guitar has BCT and really don’t know how to tell. The tear drop levers and brackets look to be factory because parts match rest of guitar except for the levers themselves but don’t know for sure. It’s a one owner guitar and can’t imagine the guy that owned it doing anything to it other than factory. Maybe some of the Carter experts can answer these questions. Guitar sounds great with E66 on E 9th and looks to be a 10-1 on C6th. Thanks

Yeah, I never did see what Carter did to upgrade their older steels to BCT. I wouldn’t even know what to look for.

Post by Jack Goodson »

I owned four Carter guitars over the years. I'm pretty certain BCT started in 1998. It did make a difference in tonal quality to me. Without it the guitars tended to be a little darker tonally With BCT they were noticeably brighter (especially in the bass strings)along with a little more sustain.

I tried a Trutone, E66 and ultimately stayed with the XR16. They are great guitars in my opinion.
Cops aren't paid much so I steel at night.

This is a great looking guitar and I am sure Henry has it set up and singing like it should. 8 & 8 is a plus anyway you look at it. J.R. Rose

This is a very nice guitar. I ordered a Red 91/92 from John and Bud and picked it up in their shop. I kept and play for several years and never had any problems. Played and sounded like it should. Henry, This will make somebody a nice Christmas Gift. It is just around the corner you know so just hang in their. Looks really good. J.R.

I had several Carters over the years, some with BCT , and some without, could never hear any difference, they all had a great tone to me...

Your Carter Steel

Post by Thomas Breese »

Hey, I see you traded this one off. Is there a good place to trade? I have a U12 Fessenden with 8 pedals and 5 levers. I am trying to trade it for a double neck like your Carter.
