One of the greatest jazz artists of his generation. So sad to report the passing of Roy Hargrove, only 49.

In one of my past lives during the 90's I was the Audio Engineer for Charlie Haden (Jazz Bass Player) we shared numerous shows with the Hargrove Band from Los Angles to Finland and many world class festivals.
Major Talent on Trumpet and other similar Horns. Often he and others would Jam with the Local Bands in the hotels. A Lot of lost talent.

I am not sure how many people realize that Charlie Haden started in country music as a child with The Haden Family, his family’s country band that performed on radio, and that Haden continued playing country and americana music with his own children

I remember him doing that recording, It was a lot of singing, Charlie did Shenandoah, Ruth sang too (Wife) he had triplets and a son, + his son in law sang old Joe Clark, (Jack Black Movie Actor).
I had no eye deer that Roy Hargrove was as young as he was, we toured back in 1994-5 when I met him and his band for the 1st time.
Jazz and Steel Guitar Masters are somewhat parallel in the aspect of them Dropping off ---time moves on, thank goodness there are so many of US keeping the instruments alive.
I remember meeting Bill and Howard in Dallas some years back when I was there to launch the Non-Pedal Room, and our conversations included our personal commitment to the Steel Guitar and it's longevity.
