Who's that steeler with Bill Haley?
I'm watching about the early days of R & R and saw Bill Haley doing "Rock The Joint" and
noticed he has a steel player. Anyone know who this is @7:15?

Might not be the same steeler, but here's a blurry screenshot of a steeler playing on "Rock Around The Clock Tonight":

I believe it's Billy Robinson. He was inducted into the SGHoF in the early 2000s - I chatted with him in the elevator in St Louis.
I recall being very excited at the 'guitar' part on 'Thirteen Women' (the B side of 'Rock Around The Clock') in 1956, little realising that I was hearing a steel guitar!

When I worked for Bobbe Seymour (Early 90's or late 80's), Billy used to stop by from time to time, and those screenshots don't look like him. He might have recorded on the records.

The clearest footage of Williamson is from the 1956 film "Don't Knock The Rock", where the Haley band does "Hot Dog Buddy Buddy".
Not much of Billy, but it's clear.
I guess that's a Fender with the identification removed.
You are all obligated to watch it for the dancing chicks alone. Can't hardly get 'em like that no more.
