Hi all,
About to get my first pedal steel. Been playing 6 string, banjo and mandolin for 25 years and finally making the leap to PSG!
I’ve narrowed my choices down to 2 guitars, a Mullen Discovery and a Williams SD10, and I would love some opinions. I think both would be fine choices of well made, excellent sounding instruments. However, I’m curious about people’s perveptions of the differences in tones, as well as the pros and cons of each. I think the Mullen might be a bit more portable, but that’s all I can tell. Hoping others can speak more articulately about these 2 great psg’s!
Having trouble deciding since I really like the idea of either of these guitars! |

A Mullen Discovery is a good choice. It's a pro guitar with pro sound. I am a Sho Bud guy of 35 years. I love the Bud tone. Playing a Super Pro. I own a Mullen Discovery. Great tone. Starting out I would go for the Mullen for sure. The Discovery has 3 pedals and 4 or 5 knees. 4 knees will do anything you want. Use a thumb pick and two finger picks for sure.

I have owned Sho-Bud, Miller, Sierra and several other brands never had a Mullen but now own a Williams SD10 and Love it. Great tone and super well built I don't think you could go wrong with ether guitar unless there is something wrong that a new player might miss. Good Luck and welcome to the world of PSG enjoy the ride.

Really the only variable in your choices is size and weight. Both great guitars. _________________ 1967 Emmons Bolt On, 1995 Mullen PRP 3x5,Nashville 112, JOYO Digital Delay, Goodrich Volume Pedal, Livesteel Strings |

You are right, both are good choices. But you may want
the one that has more expansion possibilities, to add a pedal or knee lever later on.

Williams have split screws, don't think that Discovery does, that's a key benefit in my view. But the Discovery is still a great "little" guitar, and light. _________________ E9 INSTRUCTION

The discovery has the split tuning as an option for $150. |
