Never messed with a pull release before. What is the correct process for setting the tuning process? ie, do I tune the strings open then tune the pedals/levers. Thanks for all responses. |

Tune the raises first then the lowers. For example, tune strings 5&6 to C# and A with the A&B pedals down, then release and tune the B and G# at the changer. If you have a lever that lowers, it's more like what you're used to - tune the unlowered note at the keyhead then the lower at the changer. This system is limited in the number of changes but great for tone, and keeps its tuning well. _________________ Make sleeping dogs tell the truth!

Thanks Ian for your response. Now that brings up a major question for me now.
I have to start from scratch on setting this up. So, I ask what do I do from step one? Assume that the rod tuning is all messed up and the pedal throw is mess up. I hope I can find a local steel player in this area that knows where to start. I am in Ontario, Oregon. Guess I better start by googling on the computer. |

Roy, just to clarify Is there a typo and did you mean "Fender " Model 800?
If it is, it's not a "pull/release" and should be a 10 string model with cables underneath. The changer is all-pull. If it is there is a large Facebook Fender pedal steel group with quite a few downloadable documents and people that can help.
If it's not a Fender cable guitar just ignore this, - but it's the only "model 800" I'm aware of. _________________ No chops, but great tone
