Topic: Duel Showman with EPS 15 inch 4ohm? |

I have a 1976 Duel Showman Reverb. I had a 2-12 cabinet and want to try a 15 inch EPS
4 ohm speaker. Am I going to stress the amp witha 4 ohm speaker? I am having the speaker bottom re-tolexed to the blond vinyl to match the head.

I thought a Dual Showman required a 4ohm load? Check on the rear of the chassis at the output jack, it should say there? That’s a great looking amp, Len!

Edward is right. The reason it was named Dual Showman is because it was it was paired with a 2x15 cabinet containing 2 8 ohm speakers for a combined 4 ohm load (as opposed to the Showman which was paired with a 1x15 or 1x12 8 ohm speaker). The Dual Showman wants to see 4 ohms. Here is some info you might want to have:

The head alone is definitely not 150 lbs. That has to be for the head plus some seriously heavy speakers.
I have a '69 or '70 head that Ken Fox cleaned up and tweaked for me and it kicks serious tail and sounds like a million bucks. I've used a variety of 4-ohm speakers including the EPS 15's, old JBL's and Telonic 15's.

A tip from Pete Burak:
Put the cab on the head. Just the right height and even a slight angle.
Mine`s a `68 Showman Reverb, not Dual. Yet, the OT is a 22889’ a 4 ohmer. Go figure....
Sounds equally good with a 4 ohm EPS or an 8 ohm JBL K 130, pictured.
