Thanks Ian, I just picked up a Maverick,3 Pedals no Knees. Legs are 24 inches so I guess someone cut them down and probably for a good reason. Also got a Sho-Bud pedal with it. I can't even get my foot on it if I put it under the guitar. Sure got an education on winding the string on the pot, first attempt I had it backwards, took a few times to get it right and adjusted. Not a show piece but will be a player, maybe will be a winter project. Will have to make 3 pedal rods also.

Anyone want to give a date when Sho-Bud added a knee lever to the Maverick and made them 3 & 1.

Thanks Steve, I will try to get you a picture posted. Probably have to charge the batteries in my camera. It has never had a knee lever. Greg, my son, stopped by last night to look it over. Does not have a Sho-Bud fretboard and the legs were cut off to 24 inches but other than that he is pretty sure it is original.

When I get done with the D-8 National we will start on the Maverick. Looks a lot like yours but has polished endplates. Greg thinks they are original as he could not see anywhere any black on them, when we pull it down then we can get a better look. He will polish the end plates and pedals if I can get my stuff in ahead of his ZB repair & restoration work. :D No rollers in the headstock. If I had the decals I might consider a complete teardown and refinish, it looks like it has had a rough life at times.

I'm not trying to hijack this thread into Maverick trashing, but I too had a Maverick that was entirely too short. I'm not sure if that's factory or that was something folks did. Anyone have a theory?

Neal, from the information I have heard over the years Sho-Bud would build a guitar any way you wanted it. So I think short legs ordered from the factory would be a possibility.

Anyone know where I can get both decals for a Maverick, so far no luck.
