Just letting people know I left the black '76 D10 P/P Tommy used on the "Hot Licks and Cool Tricks" video at Jim Palenscar's. It's in very good shape and has had C6 LKL and LKR added since Tommy had it (although he seemed to do just fine without them...). I have too many instruments and am trying to de-clutter a bit with my advancing years. I'm happy to have Jim handle the sale, shipping, and any copedant changes the buyer may want.

Yes, it went from Tommy to Jim, to Gary Walker in California, to me, to Paul Haaker and back to me. Paul is a very strong player but his set up is, in my opinion, better suited to a modern, all-pull instrument. I was happy to have it back, but I have a '72 Fatback D10 I really like and too many other fine instruments and amps I don't use. After a lifetime of acquisition I'm thinking more of unburdening myself of some of it all. Same for my garage... I had my Sunbeam Tiger out this morning after a couple months of sitting and it promptly blew out a rack and pinion seal and left a nice puddle of gear gear oil under it. I think it's saying "Play me or trade me!"

Here's a pic. Jim has a similar picture on his inventory page. He's got it at $4000. My copedent is:

RKR lower E9 E's to D# C6: lower string 3 to B
RKL raise E9 E's to F C6 raise strings 3 and 7 to C#
C6 LKR raises strings 4 and 8 to Bb
C6 RKR lowers strings 4 and 8 to Ab
E9 LKR lowers string 2 to D and C# and lowers 9 to C#
E9 LKL raises string 7 to G and G# and string 1 to G
E9 pedals are standard Emmons C6 standard although I can't remember what I had P4 doing, possibly raising C6 string 6 to F.

I'm pretty sure that's correct unless I had the C6 LKL and LKR only act on string 4, ala Buddy Emmons. Check with Jim, who is fully equipped to alter those changes (I hear he does it in exchange for money). BTW, It has Tonealigner humbuckers on it now but I do have the original dual tap single coils (9,000 and 18,000 ohms) which I suppose I'd sell separately. It originally had the butterfly head tuners, but I replaced them with the smaller button head ones.

Hey; wait a minute, I would still have this if Jay Dee hadn't told Pete about it, Pete called me, and I folded and let it go, after I moved to Morro Bay. Oh me, what kind of monster did I create? I was living in Flagstaff when Jim had it on the Forum. He was flying to Phoenix anyway; I met him at Sky Harbor, we loaded it into my Crown Vic and thought I'd never let it go. I had two P/Ps and now, I have neither. Oh well, Forest was right, "Stupid is as Stupid does."

Hold on; I see a definite pattern developing here.
Jim brought it from Philly to Phoenix in a Boeing Super Jet, I took it to Flagstaff in a Crown Vic, moved it to Morro Bay in a Mini-van, Peter took it to LA in a Prius, the next step is a Smart-For-Two, and when I see it on the back of a Moped rider; we have reverted back to our ancestors, the Chimp.

On a more serious note, I have often thought that it should become standard practice for owners to sign and date the undercarriage of each pedal steel so that the pedigree is carried forward with the guitar in perpetuity...

As much as we buy, sell and trade we should keep a Library sign out card secured to the undercarriage.

Hi everyone,
Just an observation. My original black push pull Emmons used in the video , â€œ Hot Licks and Cool Tipsâ€ produced by Bruce Bouton was a 1976 equipped with 5 black anodized knee levers, 8 floor pedals, butterfly keys, Emmons original pick ups and chrome fretboards. This guitar appears to have had some minor cosmetic changes since I owned it, however, I am now convinced it was my guitar. I've edited this post to reflect that.ðŸ˜Š

Tommy, It does have chrome fret boards, and had butterfly keys when I got it, and single coil dual tap pickups (9 and 18K). As I recall, it had four levers when I got it and I added the additional C6 levers (edit here: My recollection of this is wrong. It was 8&6 when I got it) I don't recall what color levers were on it when I got it or if I changed any of them.
Perhaps Jim or Gary can shed some light on this?
Regardless I absolutely don't want to sell it under false pretenses!

I remember having Mike Cass add a few KLs to it, though I can't recall whether they were chrome or black. Certainly they would have matched whatever was already on there. I would not have changed them all. Perhaps I can dredge up an old photo of it.

Thanks, Jim. I did have the guitar apart after I got it to put it back to Emmons pedals and put my slightly screwy knee lever set up on, perhaps I only moved the levers. Maybe Gary will chime in, or has some pics. It was a while ago and my memory's not what it used to be. Neither is my memory.

So this guitar has flip-flopped several times back and forth between Day and Emmons, eh? When I bought it from Tommy, I had Mike Cass switch it over to Emmons for me. Gary must have changed it back to Day and then sold it to you and you changed it over to Emmons again. Hah!

And then some, since I move my E9 E's up and down on my right leg. I had only worked on an S10 P/P prior to that and tearing into a D10 was daunting, to say the least. Fortunately I had a good suicide prevention hot line in Jay Dee.
