Pre-Show Dance on Thursday at Baxter Springs Community Ctr

Post by Douglas Cole »

Moccasin Bend Country Band will be hosting a FREE pre-show dance on Thursday night preceding the Steel Show. DeWayne Bowman will be our special guest for this event. This is the first time we've attempted this. We invite all the people that attend the Thursday afternoon Riverside picnic to join us, as well as all persons arriving early for the show. We are opening this dance up to the community so there will be opportunities to visit with locals and get to know the great people of Baxter Springs, KS. We will try to minimize impact to the vendors and players who arrive on Thursday to set-up tables and equipment.

Looking forward to the show

Post by Joe Naylor »

This is a GREAT SHOW they have let me emcee this one for the last several years. We look forward to it every year.

We say it is just like a family reunion but no one fights or fusses. They have lots of food so you simply get there and have everything you could want.

And I will have a few steelseats there too.

Roy Rosetta joining the dance band

Post by Douglas Cole »

Roy called me on Saturday and said he would be honored to sit in with Moccasin Bend. I've wanted to do a show with Roy ever since the first time I heard him. On another front, I hear rumors that we will have a fiddler from the Texas Playboys. One of the newer members of the touring group. Won't that be something.

I really hope many of you will venture out a day early and enjoy this special event.

Here's a deal for you. If you come to the dance, we'll let you into the steel show for FREE. Yeah, I know, it's free anyway, but, hey, it's all about marketing. :-)

Church

Post by Fred Justice »

Doug I notice there is no Church service scheduled,
For all the years this show has been, there has always been a church service.
Are we following the rest of the country and leaving the Lord out of it?

Fred I am glad you noticed this I hadn't. I think a good candidate for this would be Mike McGee if he is willing. Wes

Fred

Fred you are out of bounds on this one.

We had church service in Phoenix at the Sheraton and when you were on the board after that at the Hilton NO CHURCH SERVICE.

Sorry but that is facts. I am going to church in a few minutes so you know I am not against church. We sing in the choir and active.

There is a church just down the street that you hear the bells ring at 9 AM.

Change is OK - let it be for a year and see.

Church Service

Post by Douglas Cole »

I'll update the schedule. Ron Erickson is doing the church service. I just assumed everyone would know this was a given. My bad.

Joe, I'm not referring to the Hilton, the Sheraton, or any other hotel or the church down the street.
I'm talking about a Church service at the Baxter Springs show, it has had a 50 minute church service for 15 years, no reason not to have one this year. Just saying. :D

Thank you Doug for clearing that up, I appreciate it.

Dewayne Bowman and Roy Rosetta, What more could you want?
Maybe Larry King and John Buffington? Wish I could be there but other duties call. J.R.
