On The Alamo
I've been a member on the forum here for a long, long time, and I don't think I've ever shared a video or an audio clip of myself.
I posted this video on my YouTube channel about a year ago, after I just got my 1955 Stringmaster. The playing is quite raw and less than perfect, but I had waited a long time for a T8 Stringmaster to come my way, so I just wanted to show it off a bit.

Dave, this is great stuff. I think your playing is wonderful. Like to hear more.
Tell us what your tuning is for this piece. We all love hearing that. good job.

Thanks a lot, Kevin. That was very kind of you to say.
On my middle neck I use a C6/A7 tuning, like Kayton Roberts, with the low A on the bottom string, although I don’t think that string came into play on this song.
FWIW, I use a straight A6 on the front (farthest) neck, and I’m experimenting with tunings for the back (closest) neck. Currently, I have an E13 tuning there.

I've had this song on my "someday" list since seeing the Speedy West / Lawrence Welk show video online...unfortunately I wasn't sure what sort of pedal magic he was doing on his Fender 1000 (and I'm all left feet with my Fender 400). But as you show, you can do it without pedals...great work!
Also your Stringmaster looks like the long lost twin of mine, walnut T-8 from the mid/late 50s. Sounds good too!

Waikīkī, at night when the shadows are falling
I hear the rolling surf calling
Calling and calling to me
I hear the rolling surf calling
Calling and calling to me
