Extended E9th 12 string

Anyone have one with the 11th string G#,and the 12th string E? What is your pedal and knee lever set-up? If you care to post. Thanks.

Kenny: I have the arrangement you mentioned.
About the only thing I think is different on my setup is that I pull the 11-G# up to an A#
which with my C pedal gives me an open F#7th in an open position. From low (12) to high (7) the notes run:F#-A#-C#-D-E-F#.

The other changes on these strings are standard but I don't raise or lower the E (12) with the high E (4) and middle E (8) strings with the LKL and LKR knees.

Pedal 6 is the E-13th and pedal 7 is like pedal 6 on the C-6th tuning when use with pedal 6. The knee levers can be used with either the E-9th or E-13th tuning.

I used the E9/B6 Universal for over 20 years but last August I went to an extended E9 tuning. I call it my 12 string Mooney tuning. Here's how it goes:

I've used an extended E9 for years.
I have no idea how to submit the diagram of what I have....
My 11th is a G#. I raise it to an A on the 2nd pedal (with the other G#s) and I lower it to a G with an inside LKL (along with 3&6)
My LKL is just like Bob's (2 E's to F, botton E to C#).
Lower E's on LKR.
Pedal A,B, C are normal.
4th pedal raises 5&6 to C# and A.
5th pedal raises 6 to Bb.
LKV lowers 5 to Bb
RKL raises 1st F# to G and lowers 7th F# to F.
RKL inside raises both F# to G
RKR lowers the 2nd a half and then 2nd and 9th to C#.
RKR inside lowers 4th E to Eb and Raises 9th D to Eb.

I was beginning to think I was a freak for lowering my low E to C# on the F lever. Thanks for posting that, Winnie.

Do I read correctly that you don't lower your 8th string? That's very different!

It's as easy as bitching about Ryan Adams's teeth! Just type it on your keyboard. It is easier if you don't just hit the "Reply" button and start typing; instead try it on your text editor or word processor until it looks right there. Then copy and paste it in to your reply.
The only problem is how to get the columns to line up. You can do that by using a font where all letters have the same width (monospaced). Courier New Font works for me.
Then you use the tab and /tab codes before and after it, which will cause the Steel Guitar Forum to use a monospaced font. Enclose those codes in brackets like [] which I can't actually do here since the Forum would interpret that as a code and wouldn't display it.

I just added a change to lower my low E (string 11 for me) to Eb on the lever that usually lowers 4 and 8, E to Eb.
It is a specialty thing for certain songs and I disenguage it at the endplate when I'm not using it (just a few quick turns of the tuning wrench).

You can use the boo-wah pedal to do the same thing -- just stay away from the 9th and 12th strings.

I use it in E9th mode and don't want to leave the A+B position during that time. Using the Boo-wha pedal would screw up the whole purpose of the change for the reason you mentioned, I'd have to avoid stings 9 and 12.
I had the idea, installed the parts (using parts in my "Sierra Drawer" from past ideas), fine tuned, and was back to creating music in about 20 min.
Sierra has made it easy for me to be creative.
I also now drop string 12, B to A, on the A pedal.
I highly reccomend this change for E9th.
(I put it on my Emmons P-P also).

I've been doing that for years on my universal. It gives a great voicing to the C# chord. I now have an E to C# lower on a knee lever so I can get the same voicing in a C# minor chord too.

I lower my 12th down from E to A with RKL which is 3/1/2 tones and it goes waaaaaaay dowwwwwwwwnnnn like JD Sumner!!!!!!

I yank my low E down to B on one of my steels as you can see at http://b0b.com/tunings/ebovine.html but when a string is that loose the pitch is not reliable.

I've played a D12 Emmons PP for a number of years now, and simply add the 11th as a G#, and pedal it up and down, just like the 6th, and the 12th is naught but a big E note, and I don't do anything with it.

Ken- I use the G# on the 11th string and the E on the 12th. string. But my Tuning leans more to E6 with E6 pedals, E13 and E9. Sorta like BE's experimental E tuning. But I don't put the F# in on 7th string like usual E9. I get that with a knee lever when I want it....al Image Image

I knew there was something about Earnest I could resonate with.
That may explain the difficulty with trying to make linear something that is nonlinear.
Shouldn't the lever raises go the right, and the lowers go left?
But I keep pouring over these charts, looking for places not to go.
