I'm thinking about going back to a rack setup possibly stereo. I'm looking for a lightweight low cost power amp option.

I have a Tubefex to drive the front end. I'm considering a Class D just for the weight and size.

Any suggestions?

Ollin, I was using one with a Revelation Tube Pre-amp... recommended to by Brad Sarno... I no longer use mine, as I’m only using the straight into my interface now, so don’t need it for live... so here it sits.

Thanks Mike, I play a rack system and although no problems with my Stewart I’ve been thinking about a pre-emotive (sp) change.

Some people, including me, are using a Gallien-Kreuger MB 200 bass amp for a power amp in a steel rig. It weighs about 2 lbs, is 200 watts, and has EQ which is flat with everything at 12:00 a clock but gives you some extra EQ control if you need it.

Also the Quilter Block series have a similar power-to-weight ratio and also sound great!

While considering my options I've been using my BX500. I run into the Tubefex then out to the effects return on the BX500. This cuts out the EQ section of the BX500 as long as I also switch off the graphic EQ. Seems to work well enough and it's plenty loud.

My BX500 is in a 3U rack and the Tubefex also fits. This is only temporary until I decide on a Power Amp. I would like to try the Ganz amp but I also want to run stereo. That means I'll probably go with the XLS 1002 or something similar.
