Previous examples here reinforce my conclusion.
Steel players always have that constipated look and seem actually sitting on a Pot. So I'd call it an "Air Freshener Noise Suppressor" to cover up those embarrassing sounds and odors, you know what I mean.
I think the PSG is really the Air Freshener Noise Suppressor musically speaking for most Bands!!!

I was playing at a Eagles Lodge a couple years ago and a couple that was dancing most of the night came up to me on break and told me how much they loved what I was doing and they loved the sound. After about 10 minutes the question was asked, What is that called you are playing? I told them it was a old saw horse I had in the garage and I just threw some old guitar strings on it!!!! Then I told them what it was. We all got a big laugh out of it!! The thing that really amazes me is when someone comes up to me and knows what it is called. I never would have dreamed that they would even had a clue!!!!
