Just received my new Excel today. What a beautiful instrument. I sat down at it and in 15 minutes I felt like I had been playing it all my life. The pedal action is smooth, powerful and positive. Mitsuo wound a special pickup for me. The sound is full and clean with a great bottom end for my B flat 6th tuning. Can't wait till tomorrow when I can get started again.

Congrats Mike,
I had an Excel U12 made for me back in the 80's. Mine was Rosewood mica with aluminum neck 8+5. I played it 5-6 nights a week for more than 10 years and never had a problem with it. In combo with my Session 400 I was very happy with the tone too. I don't know what Mitsuo may have changed on his guitars between then and now. Mine had a lever to lock in the E string lowers for B6. Changer was 5 raise/triple lower!. Came with an aluminum flight case standard. Hope you are happy with yours. Keep us updated.

MIke, so glad your new EXCEL "fits like a glove" and has the sound you love so much. MItsuo builds one of the very best on the market today and with all the mechanical configurations endowed in his marvelous changer, there is no limit to the personal adjumstments players now have available. And some personal advice to anyone in the decision market for a new steel, you should do yourself a great favor and do a little research on the EXCEL. And Scotty has the dealership folks.
Mitsuo played Mike's steel on the ISGC program Labor Day Weekend, then went to Nashville-recorded a cd project at Breeden's Studio. After the session, Mitsuo installed Mike's Bb6 tuning. Mike now has the guitar and I know he is very pleased with all aspects. Thanks to Mitsuo and his personal attention to all details.
