Steel Guitar Study Group will meet Sunday 6-03 at 2p.m.
1st Sunday of each month

Location is the same American Legion Post 593.
326 Legion Dr W, Converse, TX 78109

SASGA is forming a study group get together for steel guitar players or anyone interested in music practice and performance.
Do you want to learn something new? Teach something important? and have Fun!
This meeting will be a gathering / lesson for the intermediate and beginner Not involving a live public performance.

The Study Group will be interesting for anyone working on or involved with the steel guitar.
We are looking at more of an exchange of ideas on how to practice, Ways to practice and learn.
Taking turns leading the group in different areas as the groups interest shift.
More of a networking thing that would result in friendships and recommendations.

The San Antonio Steel Guitar assoc is always looking and open to ideas for upcoming events to contribute an idea or anything to the SASGA,

I haven't showed up there in 6 years. I had a great excuse for a long time but Sunday's are starting to open up again.
No, I'm not out on parole.

There are a few things that all steel players, do amateurs and pros. One of those is adjust their levers, pedals and do at least minor maintenance. I would be interested in knowing how some others have their guitars set up. Mostly I have just guessed.

Most steel players use tab. There are different types of tab and some are better than others. Some sources are better than others. It might be good to have a discussion. A lot of us use Tabledit. I don't know the program that well but somebody else might. I use tab a lot because my memory is so bad. Those are just a couple of thoughts.

Unless something happens between now and then I am planning on coming.

I have had another request to go over Tabs.
There will be at least a run through on the different tab lingo models. I will be doing some work based on Scotty's Steel Anthology.
There will be another person running over some different materials also.
The group can decide what areas it can go into and we have alot of material and resources at our disposal. Including private lessons with Rodger Edgington!

It is amazing how some of the best stuff out there is overlooked just because it has been around so long. IMO Scott' E9 backup book is the best thing out there for learning fills. It is hardly ever mentioned. The tab in it is flawless and it has music notation as well. Supposedly some where in the cosmos, there is a C6 version of the same songs. It is out of print of course. I don't have it but I would love to find a copy.
