Quilter Discontinuing a couple of Steel Guitar Products...
Howdy gang, Chris from Quilter here. Just wanted to let the community know that we are discontinuing the Steelaire Pro and the Steelaire Extension cab.
The Steelaire Combo and Steelaire Rackmount will carry on as usual.
Wanted to be sure to tip the hat to the community and let you know. Some dealers may have limited supplies still.
If this is in the wrong place, admin please feel free to remove or move it. Thanks.

Thanks for the update. I just bought a new Steelaire Rack, a week ago. Working well with an Eminence EPS-15C speaker.

I did the same thing Jack... Bought the Quilter Rackmount... what a great amp, and like you, right now using it with my MSA’s and an Eminence EPS-15C in one cab and a Shallow Basket BW in the other... May get a TT-15 to try... Anyhow love the Rackmount and thanks to Travis Toy with his help walking me through some of the finer points of this fine amp.Jack Stoner wrote:Thanks for the update. Purchased a used 'Steelaire' rack mount on line from Guitar Center and then commissioned a 112 cab from Rick Johnson to contain the head and speaker (Eminence TT-12, sort of my version of the 'Steelaire Pro' only lighter and more compact). This configuration also enables me to remove the head from the cab and run one or two 15" speakers should the occasion arise. Sounds great, very pleased!

I wouldn't if I were them. Turning the master volume down doesn't change the sound that much - obviously, all speakers sound different at lower volume but the Steelaire is an extremely "linear" amplifier for what's nominally a guitar amp.Steven Finley wrote:By any chance is Quilter planing a smaller version
of the steelair, say a 112 mabe 80 or 100 watt for smaller gigs?

Overall this is a great amp, well received and HI quality. Marketing is the issue, how many Steel guitar players actually bought it and how many GUITAR players even considered it. It is billed as a Steel Guitar amp which in the scheme of things is a very tiny market.
Maybe they can figure out how to DOUBLE market the next offering for a wider audience.
As a 50/50 guitar player, my needs are totally different than a 100% Steel player. Quite honestly I seek an amp for GUITARS and work the Steel in after that. I don't think I'm alone here.
I do still own a N400 and an N112 for Steel only gigs, but those are very rare. Double duty is common for me.

I also do a lot of guitar/steel doubling. I've been saying for years (to Chris initially, and many times to Palenscar) that I wish Quilter would make a 2-channel amp with basic EQ for each channel, kind of like a Quilter version of a Fender Bassman, at least 100 watts. I don't need any effects, I use pedals for everything.
C'mon Chris, there are quite a few of us "double duty" guys out here.
I like my Mini-101 head for when I don't have to double, but I also wish that amp had a more conventional set of tone controls. There isn't much adjustment of the high end available.
