Hi all!

Can somebody help me with this lick at 4:24?

https://youtu.be/jysr3ibMHsM

I know more players are using this lick in their C6 playing like Big E and Hal Rugg for example.

Best regards,

Mathew Jut

Try the Speed option located in video Youtube Settings. Maybe might help. Unfortunately that lick is so fast, half-speed sounds garbled, but .75 sounds okay. Maybe could help. Good luck.

When I watch it, it looks like the lick is played mostly no pedals, across the neck with some bar movement up and down from the base fret he’s working from. With well timed blocking.

I’m trying to learn something similar and like a lot of things on C6 PSG, there are several different ways to play the notes of a lick. One lick involves either heavy use of P7, or moving the bar 2 frets quickly. For me, I find it easier to accurately move the bar fast, than to time the P7 presses and releases. Is this what most people do? Play more “on top of the guitar”?

It’s in the key of C and the lick starts on the C chord with your basic E-G-A-C swing run. After that you’re on your own Cool

I think it is just as important to recognize that short tasteful flurry of 16ths as the highlight of the solo as it is to actually get the lick note for note. Every solo needs a defining moment.

I would be happy just to get that tone. Wow.

That was good, Roger! Smile
Fwiw, you could email Buck Ried and ask.
It looks like fast triplettes used as pickup-notes for the next run.

Try the two frets back position, starting on the ninth string. Ninth string fret 10, slide up one fret real quick, then eighth string fret 10....

I'm not sure that's what he's doing here but that's a good kick off point for some licks that can sound similar. You can just play up through the strings on fret 10 (key of C) and throw in chromatics just about anywhere. It kind of looks like he works his way up to fret 12 and then back to 10.

So, um... other than that one spot, you've got the rest down...? Wink
