MSA SuperSlide 12 String Custom made

Post by Shirley Altland »

My father passed away last year and I am selling his custom made MSA SuperSlide with unusual 12 strings. Apparently the pedal models were too heavy for him to carry so he had this lap guitar made with 12 strings.

Hardly used in Excellent condition.
No scratches or marks of any kind.
Color: Cocobola
Built in 2006
SS#121057
With a Freedom Stand
Soft sided case with shoulder straps
2 sets of strings are include, see pictures.
Paid: $1724.90
All information verified with MSA.

Asking $995.00
Plus $60.00 shipping.
I am not sure what else I could answer since I don't play but please let me know if I can try to answer any questions or send you more pics if you want something photographed.
Thank you

A few questions.

What is the freedom stand? Is that the 3 leg stand it is sitting on in the photos?

Can you measure the distance between the strings at the bridge end of the guitar? Lap steels can vary greatly in their string spacing. I think a buyer may want to know that,

That is a nice looking instrument. A good practice instrument for 12 string pedal steel players.

Bridge distance and stand

Yes the Freedom stand is the 3 three legged stand it is sitting on.

The strings are 5/16" apart on the bridge.

And yes it is a beautiful instrument. It was my father's pride and joy and unfortunately his health failed and he was unable to use it very much. I hate to part with it but I would like to see someone enjoy it as much as he did rather than just let it lay hidden in a case.

Thank you all for looking.

If I'm correct... that is the same color that Maurice's personal 12-string SuperSlide was. I have a green one myself, perhaps my most prized of all my instruments. The tuning is so versatile that I can almost play anything I need with no pedals now. This is a great deal!

I will send you a private message for the details.

It looks like the gentleman had it hooked up with 10 strings, but using the 12-string bridge and nut inserts. There are an available 10-string nut and bridge, which gives you slightly wider spacing, but I found with mine it was best to go like the one above - I use 10 strings, but with the 12-string spacing. I have other guitars with the narrow spacing (that won't change  ) and going back and forth gave me an attack of the flubbies.
