Can anyone help us out here? He has supposedly been a member here for ten years? Does anyone know this guy besides us?
Maybe this topic should be moved, I wasn't sure where to post it?

I'm going to wait it out. His work looks very good, and with Jerry's parts I hope to wind up with a killer steel.
Even the big builders started out small, some of them may have started building as a hobby. Certainly Carl could have communicated better and this would not have boiled over. Time will reveal the outcome, I am hoping it results in meeting my expectations.

I sold Carl some parts about a month ago and talked to him on the phone - everything went smoothly. Can't imagine there's a problem - hope he's OK. AFAIK, hes a stand up guy, at least he was with me.

he also told me that once he starts really working he shuts off his phone etc and works? Still, I do believe he should be in contact with one of us. I made 87 bell cranks, 12 pedals and 4 pickup changer covers and sent them to him as partial payment. He send me a box of parts to copy which I still have most of them? He told me he had five guitars to build and there are five of us. He has a real deal with me making parts and I find it hard to believe he would not stay in touch. I was supposed to make some changer fingers then knee pedals etc.

I am not familiar with Carl Heatley.
Does he build pedal steel guitars?

There are only two options as I see it.
Either I'm right, or there is a sinister conspiracy to conceal the fact that I'm right.

It seems to me that some of you are jumping the gun a bit. If you were to buy a new guitar from any builder, you might expect a waiting period of a few months to as much as a year. I don't know Carl but I would tend give him the benefit of a doubt. Just my opinion, based on my own experience. If you want a guitar next week, you should be looking at used guitars, not a new one.

It's not about getting a guitar quickly. It's about a lack of communication giving the impression that he's dropped off of the map.Bill Moore wrote:It seems to me that some of you are jumping the gun a bit.
