Bitdefender (free) unable to re-install

Post by Howard Parker »

Win 7 Home Premium 32 bit, up to date.

Curious I can't seem to _re_install Bitdefender (free) after an uninstall due to an update server error. Bitdefender thinks I'm attempting an uninstall instead of a reinstall.

I have attempted a "complete" uninstall using the following methods:

Usual Win uninstall via control panel/programs
Specific Win 7 uninstall tool from Bitdefender
CCleaner uninstall tool

Using regedit I've also checked/deleted Bitdefender entries under:

HKEY_Current USer_Software
Local Machine_Software
Current_Config_Software

All to no avail.

Currently running other anti- virus software ok. Considering this a challenge. Scratching my head.

Any ideas from the SGF hive?

Thanks in advance.

This is a Hail Mary, but did you possibly download the 64 bit version of the bit Defender setup file? It won't install on a 32 bit system.

Thanks guys,

I'll see if this uninstall tool is any different than what I've used from the official site. **CONFIRMED**, Same tool as I've been using!

Wiz, I don't recall seeing a 32/64bit setup option. Will double check.

I know that dealing with anti-virus software issues can be difficult. This one has me puzzled.

Thanks

Howard
