Richard is exactly right. The speaker magnet is showing through the round opening on the back panel of the amp. The name is also on the magnet: Fane
Evans used the Fane and an Eminence speaker in the amps when these were being made. I remember when checking on the amp before I purchased it being told very little difference in the speakers. I have owned both types and I could not tell a difference in the two speakers. I used them both for Pedal Steel Guitar. You can still look at the Evans web site and look at any other questions you may have about these amps. This amp seems to have a bit deeper range than some I have heard or owned. It also has plenty of highs. Just my observation.

scruff control knob

Post by Allen Howington »

John,
I have asked the same question to those that should have known, however my answer was always---just leave it on zero, you don't need it. I have had many Evans amps and still own two of them, never needed the "scruff" control knob included. These are great steel guitar amps and take a back seat to no other, it's just the "Ford/Chevy" thing about which is better in the speaker question. Someone with more technical knowledge of "Scruff" might want to chime in here and provide closure to that.

Hi Allen;
This is what I have read/found concerning the scruff control knob:

Scruff: Adds a very subtle “tube like” warmth.
Some say a very subtle overdriven sound???
