Since I was encouraged to post some pictures of my progress on this guitar, I though you might like to see what I think I am going to call the finished project. I first painted it with ReRanch Vintage Cream highlighted with Amber Tinted Clear Coat. It looked too yellow when I was done, so I stripped off the finish and redid it with ReRanch Olympic White highlighted with Vintage Cream and clear coat. Like this color much better. The first picture is a better representation of the true color. It has a Seymour Duncan Hot P-90 in it, and the carbon fiber 3-D printed bridge from Mr. Georgeboards. I made the nut from Ebony. How does it sound?
I think it sounds very good, but I do not post sound clips. Thanks to everyone for your interest.

You did an excellent job on the guitar. Is there much difference between these, and the Bakelite models?

Thanks Ron for your kind words. Although there are some similarities in the guitars like basic body shape and the same pickup, the differences due to the Bakelite construction vs the stamped sheet metal give the metal body models a different unique voice. As some have said before, you either love the tone of the metal body guitars or you hate them. I like them a lot. Hard to beat the Bakelite models though. |
